The VND 500 billion project is expected to reduce the pressure on Dong Van Cong Street, facilitating to go from District 2 to the city center.
On the morning of May 30, The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport held a ceremony to open the bridge to Kim Cuong Island (District 2) after more than 8 months of construction, nearly two months ahead of the plan.
The bridge to Kim Cuong Island is located on the road along the Saigon River, section crossing the Giong Ong To river branch
Mr. Le Ngoc Hung (Director of Urban Traffic Management Area No. 2, investor) said that the project creates an axis connecting Mai Chi Tho Street and Thanh My Loi Residential Area, reducing pressure on Dong Van Cong Street. The circulation from Thanh My Loi to Mai Chi Tho Street and the city center will be more convenient.
This is also an item to help complete the road along the Saigon River connecting Mai Chi Tho Street to Phu My Bridge as planned.
The bridge to Kim Cuong Island is nearly 300 m long, 22 m wide with 4 lanes, located in the section crossing Giong Ong To river branch. The first point of the bridge is next to the road along the Saigon River in a 30-hectare residential area in Binh Khanh Ward. The final point is next to the riverside road in Thanh My Loi Ward.
Along with the bridge, the project also built embankments along the Saigon River, a road along the Saigon River next to the existing riverside road and a system of lights and trees, etc. The project has a total investment cost of nearly VND 500 billion from the city budget and contributions of enterprises benefiting from the project.
